Way back in May 2015 the Guild was the first organisation to introduce a bespoke course to highlight issues and responsibilities for sweeps when working in historic properties.
It was recognised that this specific knowledge was invaluable to sweeps, helping them to carry out the work effectively. The course has evolved over time with periodic input from new directors as well as changes coming through research.
Since 2015, 92 members and others have completed the course. Predictably (and flatteringly) several other organisations have replicated the core elements and produced their own versions. Good news for sweeps and their historic property customers.
This course only runs a few times per year, and location can be a bit of a barrier for members wishing to attend one day courses. The Historic / Thatch course has been re-designed and has moved online. It’s still the same quality content and small candidate number that are so important to retain the interactive and enjoyable elements.
We’re able to pass on the cost reductions associated with not requiring a room / travel etc. The course is now just £150 inc. VAT for members and £200 inc. VAT for non-members.
