We are pleased to announce Guild member Paul Clements has been appointed to the new position of Guild Carbon Monoxide Liaison Officer.

Paul will be engaging and networking with official bodies, charities and other stakeholders in the solid fuel and wider heating industry. The work also involves input into our published consumer information and ongoing CO information resources for members. He’s already been hard at work on the CO Toolkit sent to all members recently. If you missed it, search ‘toolkit’ on the Guild website.

Paul has also attended the E learning package from the Gas Safety Charity (see below), and a recent seminar. He said “I’m looking forward to working on this important issue, helping provide members with the best CO resources to use in their business. I’ll also be working with the Lawson and the board on collecting CO ‘near miss’ data – if we don’t know the scale of an issue, we can’t provide solutions.”

Chair Lawson Wight has undertaken the Guild CO programme work for many years, he said: “It’s great to have finally have CO as a dedicated role within the Guild and I’m sure we will all benefit from Paulís wisdom and input. We have some interesting ideas for improving our knowledge and solutions for CO issues.” He added. “As Paul says, the role of consumer awareness in solid fuel is the responsibility of professional sweeps – he’s quite right, who else is there?”

If you are interested in the E- learning package, please use the link below. Paul had this to say, “I have done the E Learning and found it broadened my knowledge of CO issues in a very easy way, it took about half an hour.  The pass certificate is useful promotional material, and it’s free!”
