IS Penny Robins the luckiest bride in the world? Probably, and not just because she’s been swept off her feet by new husband Murray.

Penny is a chimney sweep. She runs her own business, Penny Poppins, from Southend in Essex.

A few months before the wedding, Penny was talking business with local colleague and fellow sweep Dave O’Donnell. Penny said “I mentioned the wedding in passing and he very kindly offered to be my lucky sweep.”

The big day was set for Saturday 25th May 2019 at The Red Brick Barn in Rochford, Essex.

Penny explained: “On the day, I had the most wonderful surprise. I stepped out to a guard of honour from not one but four sweeps that Dave had arranged.  All had given up their time and travelled to make my day special.
The guys went down a storm and everyone wanted to have their photos taken with them. They even listened politely to my 93 year old nan who told them over and over that her dad was a sweep!”

Penny added “As sweeps, we all work individually. It’s easy to forget we are part of a much larger team. I have to admit to getting a little emotional on the day, not sure how much of that was due to the Prosecco, but the sweeps turning up on my wedding day made me remember that I’m part of that fantastic team and it’s the best team in the world – I love it!!  I really can’t thank them and Dave enough for organising. It absolutely made my day!”

We wish Penny and Murray all the very best for the future.

Special thanks to Dave O’Donnell, Dave Ricketts, Mark Paramor and Paul Solicari who took the time to surprise their fellow sweep and give her something extra special on her wedding day. Top guys all.
