Biogenic Carbon v’s Fossil Carbon

There is widespread confusion about carbon emissions and wood burning stoves for heating. The CO2 produced when burning wood for heating is biogenic carbon which circulates naturally in the environment. This biogenic carbon dioxide should NOT be confused with CO2 from burning fossil carbon (gas, oil, coal).

Wet Wood and Logs

New Rules: It must be 20% moisture or less

The main change for consumers is an assurance that bags and loose loads of logs in volumes less than 2 cubic meters will be certified as dry and ‘Ready to Burn’. It must be 20% moisture or less (some exceptions apply until 2022). You may also notice a price increase to cover increased production and certification scheme costs incurred by suppliers.

Insurance Savings for Guild Members

Big Savings of upto 30%

Early last year, Guild director Gavin Cater was ‘shopping around’ for insurance after the popular industry insurer he was with significantly increased his premium. He contacted Towergate with his requirements, got the cover he needed and made a nice saving of around 25%. He recommended Towergate to fellow director John Stone, who recently managed a 30% saving over his previous premium.
