THE Sweep Stuff trade exhibition is the most popular event in the chimney sweeping calendar – and people of all ages enjoy attending the weekend.
But just in case your wife/husband or children get bored with brushes or baffled by baffle plates: here are some outing ideas near to the venue, to keep them entertained!
Warwick Castle is only four miles from The Chesford Grange Hotel (venue for the trade show) and there’s a lot to see and enjoy there: the castle itself, which has a long history (count the chimneys there!); with battlements, turrets and towers aplenty. There’s also a Horrible Histories Maze and all-kinds of daily activities to keep youngsters entertained.
‘All’s Well that Ends Well’ if you take the car journey of just 12 miles to historic Stratford-Upon-Avon, birthplace of the Great Bard: William Shakespeare.
A number of properties can be visited in the popular market town, which bore witness to chapters in Shakespeare’s life: Nash House and New Place (where he died); Hall’s Croft, where his daughter Susanna and her husband lived; Anne Hathaway’s Cottage, the childhood home of his wife; Mary Arden’s Farm, childhood home of his mother; Henley Street, where he was born; and Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall.
Kenilworth Castle, not far from the hotel is another option for some leisure time. It has a history stretching back 900 years with colourful times recorded from its origins as a medieval fortress to an Elizabethan palace.
Birmingham city centre is not far away either if you want a big shopping experience or desire a choctastic visit to Cadbury World. If a quiet walk appeals, the countryside in Warwickshire offer some splendid countryside hiking routes.
You can ask for further information about leisure outings at the hotel reception during the show. Hotel staff at The Chesford Grange will be happy to help.
