‘Mike, it’s just a quick call to let you know that your ticket was the first one drawn in the raffle at last week’s dinner – so you’ve won a very nice new stove’.
‘Wow!……. that’s great. I’m actually in the middle of a really bad cre-away job so you’ve really made my day’. This was the conversation a couple of days ago when Mike Marriotte found out he’d won a fantastic Hamer Eco HD5 stove worth about £800 in the Guild Charity Raffle. The stove was donated by the Guild and Mike bought his winning ticket online, just 15 minutes before sales closed 😊.
The Raffle raised a new record amount of £2521.00. The proceeds will be shared between Carbon Monoxide awareness and victim support charity CO gas-safety and Macmillan Cancer Care. We are also investigating how we might support fundraising and awareness for a permanent memorial to a child chimney sweep who died working inside a chimney nearly 150 years ago.
